Try This Campaign At Your SchoolRide Like A Friend. Drive Like You Care (RLAF) is a campaign you do at your school to encourage safe teen passenger and driver behavior. Teens need to keep their focus on the road. Anything that lessens that focus can be dangerous, like texting, talking on a cell phone, listening to loud music, or even eating in the car. These are the messages that RLAF conveys. Student leaders and club members work with their school administration to plan and conduct a week-long set of in-school RLAF activities to support safe passenger behaviors like buckling up and respecting the driver. All the details on how to conduct the campaign (including downloadable tools and a timeline) are available online – AND THEY ARE FREE! You take the lead by crafting the campaign that fits your school. RLAF also tells you how to get press coverage – the key to spreading the message in your area. Check out how one high school in Pennsylvania conducted its RLAF campaign. Many schools choose to hold their campaigns during National Teen Driver Safety Week (October 20-26, 2013) because it is a natural time to drive the conversation. Last year’s theme was ‘Share, Not Scare.’ Learn how to message to motivate by communicating the benefits of safe driving here. To learn more visit the RLAF website. Follow Ride Like
